📢 Around 166,000 people in the UK live with Parkinson’s disease, and the number is rising. By 2050, the number of people with Parkinson’s worldwide is expected to reach 25 million.
There are currently no drugs that can slow or stop the disease itself, but this latest discovery could support the development of potential treatments.
🚨“If we can observe Parkinson’s at its earliest stages, that would tell us a whole lot more about how the disease develops in the brain and how we might be able to treat it,” said Professor Steven Lee from the University of Cambridge Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry, who co-led the research.
