Researchers led by Hiroshi Nishiwaki at Nagoya University, along with collaborators from Japan, China, Taiwan, Germany, and the U.S., have uncovered a compelling gut-brain connection in Parkinson’s disease. Analyzing fecal samples from 94 Parkinson’s patients and 73 healthy controls, they discovered a consistent reduction in gut bacteria involved in producing essential B vitamins-riboflavin (B2) and biotin (B7).
