There are days when I honestly don’t know which voice to listen to.

There are days when I honestly don’t know which voice to listen to.
One voice reminds me that movement is medicine. It tells me to get up, go for a walk, ride my bike, stretch, or do something—anything—to keep Parkinson’s from taking another piece of my independence.
The other voice is my body.
It quietly says, “You’ve got nothing left today.”
Sometimes that quiet voice becomes impossible to ignore.
That’s what makes Parkinson’s so frustrating.
The advice to keep moving is right.
The need to rest is also right.
Neither one is lying.
Over the years, I’ve realized this isn’t a choice between being strong or being lazy. It’s about learning to recognize what my body truly needs today.
Some days, the best thing I can do is push through the stiffness and get moving.
Other days, the smartest thing I can do is sit down, recharge, and stop feeling guilty about it.
Living well with Parkinson’s isn’t about winning every battle. It’s about finding the balance between challenging your body and respecting its limits.
I’m still learning that balance every single day.
