What Does Your Pain Feel Like?
People ask where my pain is.
Honestly, that’s not always easy to answer.
For me, it’s often less about where and more about what it feels like.
My muscles can feel like they’re made of concrete.
My feet can feel like I’m walking on rocks.
Sometimes my body buzzes like a cell phone that won’t stop vibrating.
Sometimes it feels like electricity is running through me.
Sometimes my toes curl so hard that I have to stop what I’m doing.
Other times it’s just a deep ache that hangs around all day.
Then there’s the fatigue.
Not sleepy.
Not tired.
Drained.
Like somebody unplugged my battery and forgot to plug it back in.
Some days, even simple tasks take far more effort than they should because the pain and exhaustion seem to work together.
Living with Parkinson’s can be difficult to explain, but many of you know exactly what I’m talking about.
What does your pain feel like?
If you had to describe it in one sentence, what would you say?
